E3 SPORT represents the Edwards family who's involvement within motorsport dates back to the mid 1960's.
Jim Edwards Snr
Jim Edwards Snr began racing a Mini Cooper in the 60's having stumbled across Brands Hatch when returning from a lads weekend on the south coast!
Snr later raced an F3 Brabham BT28 alongside James Hunt amongst others, followed by a group 1 Ford Capri and a host of other cars over the years. Jim won the first ever Ford Fiesta race and should have won a Fiesta tittle beating Steve Soper but for having to miss a round due to a clashing race. Jim was the 1979 Renault 5TS champion.
Jim Edwards Jnr
In recent years Jim has been instrumental in building Assetto Motorsport and has now rebranded as E3 Sport, a team name previously used by the Edwards family.
Jim Jnr began racing a Ford Fiesta in the inaugural Duckhams Road Saloon series in 1985 prior to moving to Renault's which brought much success.
Jim was the 1990 Elf Renault 5 GT Turbo champion and later the 2000 Elf Renault Clio Cup champion. Jim competed in the BTCC production championship between 2001 - 2003 Finishing 4th in 2002 and winning an extraordinary race at Croft in his Honda!
Jim won Renault's 30 year celebration race at Thruxton in 2004 racing alongside his father, a young Phil Keen, Perry McCarthy and the late Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams.
In 2007 Jim returned to the Clio Cup finishing 4th in a championship that had more than 40 identical cars and boasted many former champions.
In 2011 it was the turn of the Mazda MX5 Mk3 for Jim, enjoying a season long battle with Rob Boston and Tom Roche.
Apart from just 3 races in a Citroen C1 over 12 years, Jim returned to racing courtesy of Julian Wantling in 2023 sharing a Ginetta GTA in selected races in the Britcar series achieving two podiums and being awarded the driver of the day at Snetterton!
Chloe Edwards
Chloe began racing in 2006 driving a Ginetta Junior and has also raced occasionally an MX5, MG ZR, Ginetta G40 and most notably an Aston Martin Vantage in the AM Challenge plus a round within the BGT championship. Chloe shared the Challenge car to beat the seasons champions at the final rounds at Donington Park to record a famous and unique achievement of winning alongside her sister.
Jade Edwards
Jade began racing in 2007 driving a Ginetta Junior before moving like her sister into MX5's and MG ZR's. Jade also raced a Ginetta G55 & Aston Martin in BGT plus a number of endurance races around Europe including victory at Brno.
Jade moved into the Clio Cup for 3 seasons prior to securing a one off BTCC race driving a Power Maxed Vauxhall Astra.
This led to a 3 year spell driving a BTC/One Motorsport Honda in the BTCC and a brief spell in a Seat Cupra. Jade is hopeful to continue within the BTCC championship in 2024.
