About E3 SPORT

Our History

E3 SPORT represents 3 generations of the Edwards family who's involvement within motorsport dates back to the mid 1960's.

Jim Edwards (Team owner)

Jim is a former Renault 5 GT Turbo  and Renault Clio Cup UK champion. Jim competed in the BTCC  championship between 2001 - 2003 Finishing 4th in 2002 and winning an extraordinary race at Croft in his Honda.

Jim Jnr began racing a Ford Fiesta in the inaugural Duckhams Road Saloon series in 1985 prior to moving to Renault's which brought much success.

Jim won Renault's 30 year celebration race at Thruxton racing alongside his father,  a young Phil Keen, Perry McCarthy and the late Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams.

In 2007 Jim returned to the Clio Cup finishing 4th in a championship that had more than 50  identical cars and boasted many former champions.

In 2011 it was the turn of the Mazda MX5 Mk3 for Jim, enjoying a season long battle with Rob Boston and Tom Roche.

Apart from just 3 races in a Citroen C1 over 12 years, Jim returned to racing courtesy of Julian Wantling in 2023 sharing a Ginetta GTA in selected races in the Britcar series achieving two podiums and being awarded the driver of the day at Snetterton!

Jim Edwards Snr

Jim's father, Jim Edwards Snr began racing a Mini Cooper in the 60's having stumbled across Brands Hatch when returning from a "lads weekend" on the south coast!

Snr later raced an F3 Brabham BT28 alongside James Hunt amongst others, followed by a group 1 Ford Capri and a host of other cars over the years. Jim won the first ever UK Ford Fiesta race and came close to winning the title beating Steve Soper but for having to miss a round due to a clashing Renault race he was the runner up. Jim was the 1979 Renault 5TS champion.

Jade Edwards

Jim's daughter, Jade is a TV presenter/pundit during the live ITV coverage of the BTCC & support championships.

She enjoyed a 3 year spell driving a BTC/One Motorsport Honda in the BTCC and a brief spell in a Seat Cupra. Jade is hopeful to return to the BTCC championship in 2025.

Jade began racing in 2006 driving a Ginetta Junior before moving like her sister into MX5's and MG ZR's. Jade also raced a Ginetta G55 & Aston Martin in BGT plus a number of endurance races around Europe including victory at Brno.

Jade moved into the Clio Cup for 3 seasons prior to securing a one off BTCC race driving a Power Maxed Vauxhall Astra.

Chloe Edwards

Jim's eldest daughter Chloe, began racing in 2005 driving a Ginetta Junior and most notably won a memorable race driving an Aston  Martin Vantage in the AM Challenge.

Chloe shared the Challenge car to beat the seasons champions at the final rounds at Donington Park to record a famous and unique achievement of winning alongside her sister.
